About
Nice to meet you!
I'm Tomonori Tanabe, also known as tanb. I'm 40 years old and live near Tokyo with my wife Blair.
Around 2007, I was studying bioinformatics in university, conducting research on phylogenetic classification of influenza virus gene sequences. It was around this time that I started using Python and gradually became interested in web engineering.
Right after graduating from grad school, I worked at a company running one of Japan's leading portal sites, then experienced co-founding a healthcare startup, and currently work as the CTO of Dealers Stock.
I have a strong interest in the overall development process, from developer experience to post-release operations. Through my experience ranging from startups to large enterprises, I've become convinced that for production-level products, optimal technology selection aimed at long-term maintainability and maximizing product value is crucial.
Many organizations tend to try solving problems by adopting the latest technologies or methodologies, or by adding new features.
However, the most important thing is that both the product and the operational process remain simple. Simple, yet equipped with necessary features, operable enough, and maximizing value for customers. This is the problem I most want to solve.

Icon
My icon was born around 2006 when I opened a furniture shop in an online game. At that time, I was roleplaying as a mouse-race character.

Since then, the character icon has evolved several times to its current form.
